Not a government office or records custodian. This private reference cannot pull records, certify copies, establish residency, or remove someone from a public file. Direct those requests to the office that holds the record. For an emergency, call 911. Contact local law enforcement if you believe someone is stalking or harassing you.

Finding the Right Records Office

Start with the record type rather than a general people search. Mecklenburg County maintains the core Huntersville property, court, and election routes, while the library holds historical collections. When an online index is incomplete, give the custodian the record type, name, address or parcel number, and date range. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, provides the general request framework, but an agency is not required to create a new record.

  • Address, parcel, or ownership: use By Street and the Mecklenburg property/GIS source.
  • Historical household: use City Directories.
  • One person's record trail: use Resident Lookup.
  • Court or estate file: contact the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court at 832 E. Fourth Street, Charlotte, or use the state court portal.
  • Town administrative record: contact the Huntersville Town Clerk, Town Hall, 101 Huntersville-Concord Road, 704-875-6541, clerk@huntersville.org.

The Mecklenburg Register of Deeds real-estate counter is at 720 East Fourth Street, Charlotte, generally 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room provides phone or virtual reference at 704-416-0150 and visits by appointment. Confirm hours and procedures before traveling.
